Biking the Tetons

The Yellowstone / Grand Teton Rail Trail is 104 miles from end to end. The route goes through beautifully wooded areas west of Yellowstone Park and scenic rolling farmland of Idaho west of Grand Teton National Park with almost constant views of the Teton Mountain Range.

It can be completed in a series of day trips staying at local accommodations or ridden self-supported from end to end. The trail surface is dirt and gravel and in some areas, where the rail trail no longer exists, you must navigate country roads. There is also a guide and shuttle service to make this trips accessible to any experience level.

The Oregon Pacific Rail lines were established to West Yellowstone, Montana in 1908 and Victor, Idaho in 1913 to provide tourist access to the Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

Now, as part of our Idaho State Park and Recreational Trailway system, the Union Pacific Rail line from Victor, Idaho to West Yellowstone, Montana, once again provides a unique way to experience the west side of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

If 104 miles is not enough and you want to see more of the Parks, see the other bike ride combinations in the Teton / Yellowstone area.
